Description of Project:
Melbourne Orlando International Airport completed a $72 million expansion and upgrade, adding 86,000 square feet of space to the facility. The renovation consists of both project upgrades and renovation and expansion of the terminal,l which was built in 1989. Officials say the change will help accommodate an immediate influx of 150,000 international visitors from the United Kingdom, from 16 flights a week starting in March of 2022 for TUI Airways. Project upgrades at the airport include three new jet boarding bridges, a spacious new departure area with fresh, local restaurant and retail options, a four-lane security checkpoint, modernized ticketing counters, an expanded U.S. Customs and Border Protection Federal Inspection Station facility, an International Welcome Center, and a new terminal apron.
Scope Includes:
- Electrical – TSA Checkpoint & Hold Room Expansion
- Electrical systems at SSCP, Baggage Claim & Welcome Center
- New Electrical Service and Generator Backup System
- Directional Boring for Power Service
- Temporary Power for permanent operations until the main electrical equipment arrived due to material shortages during COVID
- New LED lighting throughout the Airport, including lighted columns
- Passenger Boarding Bridges’ power and lighting systems
- Lightning Protection and Grounding Systems
