Description of Project
This 6-story, 137,000-sq.-ft. lab/classroom complex with advanced research labs, a 10,000 sq. ft. transgenic space, BSL2 labs, flexible research space, study rooms for graduate students, offices, and faculty/student meeting spaces is a cast-in-place concrete frame with PSI joist system; exterior skin consisting of architectural precast, curtainwall, punched openings, metal panels; and stucco/paint or other architectural finish system. Division 10 required specialties include laboratory equipment & casework, elevators, and MEP/FP systems.

Scope Includes

  • Division 16 – complete electrical systems and related work
  • BIM used for mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) coordination and clash detection, as well as to improve the field processes. After fully modeling all MEP systems, the team used Trimble technology and Get the Point (GTP) Total Station Solution to lay out all the insertion points and penetrations.
