As a subcontractor to Ames Construction, Hypower delivered the installation and modification of airfield lighting systems across the new Taxiway V and its connectors. The scope included removing existing cross-field lighting; installing new LED edge and centerline lights, guidance signage, and associated duct bank and cabling; adding new Runway Status Light (RWSL) components; upgrading the Airport Lighting Control System; and building new medium-voltage duct banks for the FAA, including RVR and Glide Slope systems.
Work was carefully phased across multiple areas, including night operations and FAA facility shutdowns, to keep the airfield operational throughout critical installations. Extensive underground electrical infrastructure was installed to support the upcoming Runway 1C-19C, with all systems tested, calibrated, and commissioned to airfield safety standards.
Hypower’s electrical scope is anticipated to come in just under $13 million at completion — a tremendous effort by our team and partners on a project that helps shape the future of one of the nation’s busiest airports.
