Description of Project:
Church by the Sea moved to a new home at 1000 Kane Concourse in Bay Harbor Islands after selling its original Bal Harbour site to make way for the expansion of Bal Harbour Shops. The new three-story, 69,855-square-foot building includes 8,474 square feet of ground-floor retail along the sidewalk, with the rest of the building dedicated to the church.
Designed by Zyscovich Architects, the building includes two kitchens, a music room and a rooftop labyrinth, with 125 parking spaces in a garage and a small surface lot. Its signature feature is the lighting, especially the main lobby chandelier: over 500 pounds, with 461 individually hand-installed, suspended glass birds.
