Hypower Inc. Awarded Central Energy Plant Electrical Contract for New Orlando VA Medical Center
Fort Lauderdale, FL, January 24, 2011 – Hypower Inc. was awarded the electrical contract for the Central Energy Plant of the new Orlando VA Medical Center, which is scheduled to be completed by August 2011.
The Central Energy Plant is located in the northeast corner of the site and the project includes all mechanical and electrical equipment contained therein, including but not limited to boilers, chillers, cooling towers, emergency generators, underground storage tanks, a main water storage tank and screen wall, and electrical switchgear. Also included in this project are the associated parking lot and walkways.
This project incorporates sustainable design principles including prescribing the use of recovered materials, achieving waste reduction and energy efficiency in design. The project is being designed to achieve LEED Silver Certification.

The Orlando VA Medical Center facility establishes inpatient services for veterans in central Florida with a design goal of honoring veterans. This new campus includes 134 inpatient beds, an ER, diagnostic imaging, laboratory, pharmacy, multispecialty care clinic, 120-bed community living center, 60 bed Domiciliary (residential rehab), central energy plant and other support services. The new campus will be located in South Orlando (Lake Nona) across the street from the new University of Central Florida medical school.
