22 MW Utility Scale Solar Farm
Hypower’s Renewable Energy Division is installing 22 megawatts of utility-tied photovoltaic solar for SunEdison.
The project is comprised of 80,640 modules mounted on a single-axis tracker. The electrical installation employs more than 370 miles of DC cable and 11.5 miles of medium voltage collection system cable.
Hypower is the prime contractor for this installation which includes access road construction, pile driving, tracker installation, module installation, as well as DC, AC and medium voltage electrical installations.
The 187 acre footprint of the installation is split into two parcels located 5 miles apart; both in Lea County, New Mexico. More than 300,000 linear feet of structural steel columns will support the tracker system and photovoltaic panels which will utilize weather stations to adjust to the sun for maximum efficiency.
The project is expected to come on line by the end of 2011.
