Wind Success Factors

There are many smart steps you can take to strengthen your odds of a more profitable, successful wind farm project: we’ve outlined several here. These recommendations are based upon the combined real-world experience of our team engineers, construction managers and other wind energy experts, as a result of years of successful wind farm initiatives.

Consider interconnection challenges:
Too often, developers believe they have a good project with a strong likelihood of success, only to see their profits eroded by complex interconnection issues. This is a very critical area you must think through and handle correctly at the earliest pre-construction stages of your project. The engineering skills and strategic thinking you invest early on can reap big rewards later.

Know the federal guidelines:
Make absolutely certain that you and/or your chosen provider are up-to-speed on the strict federal guidelines in place concerning wind farm projects. If this knowledge is lacking on your project, chances are, your delays and costs will increase significantly.

Don’t wait...timing is critical:
Don’t wait to bring resources in at the construction stage…choose a company who excels at the pre-construction/design phase and partner with them as early as possible in your project process. By involving your chosen company at pre-construction stage, you give them the engineering depth and flexibility to plan your project far more efficiently early on, preventing costly construction problems and costs later.

Ask the right questions upfront:
From soil and geography concerns to foundation choices and interconnection strategies, select a firm that knows all the right questions to ask very early on in your project. This way, potential problems can be addressed before they occur. By the time many developers realize there’s a serious problem with their project, it’s too late in the construction phase to solve it successfully.
